This summer we released our first annual newsletter called “The Gallatin Valley Star” that included a two-person perspective on a former guest, Ashlee, and her journey through the Family Promise program. If you didn’t get the newsletter, check out her story here!

Ashlee’s Story

“When I first met Kara, I was scared and felt lost, alone, and unsure of myself… and my future. I have always been intimidated by other people and have felt little and unsuccessful. As the months went on and I got to know Kara, I can say that she has been my rock and a good ear to listen to me. She has been a huge help to me and my family. She helped me gain strength and self-confidence, something I never really had. She was warm and open when we first came into Family Promise, great with the girls, and she never gave up helping me with getting my oldest daughter back. She encouraged me to stay strong and to not give up, to always keep going no matter what. She has a way with people that helps them feel stronger and helps them feel like they can do anything. I know I can go to her with anything I’m dealing with. She listens and gives me options for me to help myself. If she can’t find something, she will research it and get it to you. She has the strength, determination, and confidence I hope to have one day.

I credit her for helping me get my daughter back. Without her constant support, I wouldn’t have had the strength to go through all I had been going through. Kara is an amazing person and will not stop until the job is done. She has a strong spirited heart, and loves to help people grow and start new. Kara constantly shows me that there are people in this world that still have a caring heart, and genuinely wants the best for the people she works with. She’s always telling me about classes going on around town and has a way of keeping you accountable for your work, giving deadlines to get things done by, and making sure you’re on task to reach your goals. Kara is my rock and a constant friend who will be there for me.”
